Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park
Featuring more than 2,900 acres of preserved forest, wetlands and meadows, Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park holds the unique distinction of being a historic Civil War Site home to popular hiking and biking trails and battle sites from the 1864 Atlanta Campaign. One of the most well-preserved sites from this time period, the grounds are peppered with monuments and cannons that serve as reminders of the brave soldiers who fought here. Whether you’re looking for an outdoor adventure or a quiet moment of reflection, Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park is worth a visit, with stunning views, historic structures, wildlife and outdoor activities all year round.
Swift-Cantrell Park
Swift-Cantrell Park serves as one of the premier recreation, relaxation and central gathering places for area residents. Park hours of operation are from 6:00 AM - 10:00 PM. At 42 acres, Swift-Cantrell Park is the City of Kennesaw’s largest community park. Amenities at Swift-Cantrell Park include two age-appropriate playgrounds, including an 18,500 square foot inclusive playground, three picnic pavilions, open turf for passive recreation, one-mile perimeter asphalt trail, half mile inner-loop asphalt trial, a splash pad, the award-winning Frank Boone Dog Park, a 40,000 square foot skatepark and the Life University wellness station.
Adams Park
Adams Park, a 33-acre community park located near the intersection of Watts Drive and US-41/Cobb Parkway, offers a unique blend of active and passive recreation. The park is located at 2600 Park Drive. Adams Park is home to the Recreation Center and the Ben Robertson Community Center. The park features six lighted baseball fields, four lighted softball fields, a playground, picnic pavilions and shelters, half mile paved trail, concessions buildings and two tennis courts.
Depot Park
Depot Park is located in downtown Kennesaw, 2828 Cherokee Street, across from the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History. The park serves as the backdrop for many city events, provides passive recreation to residents and welcomes visitors to our historical community. Depot Park features open playfields, a walking trail, the Carrie House (built in 1890), United Bankshares Amphitheater and the Historic Train Depot.
United Bankshares Amphitheater at Depot Park
Located in the heart of historic Downtown Kennesaw at 2828 Cherokee Street, the United Bankshares Amphitheater at Depot Park is a premier outdoor venue, offering a versatile space for large-scale events and gatherings. Opened in June 2024, the amphitheater boasts a spacious 50 x 42 ft stage, complete with a fully equipped back-of-house area, and can accommodate up to 3,000 people on its expansive lawn. The venue quickly became a central hub for Kennesaw’s most beloved annual events, including Salute to America, A Day with Santa and numerous other celebrations. The Kennesaw Concert Series, which debuted in 2024, will continue to bring live music and entertainment to the space in 2025, offering a dynamic cultural experience for the community.
Nestled within Depot Park, a scenic and inviting destination for both passive recreation and cultural experiences, the amphitheater sits across from the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History. The park also features an open playfield, walking trails, benches, the historic Train Depot, the charming Community House and the Tunnel Outdoor Classroom. These amenities provide a backdrop for a variety of City-sponsored activities and events. The Train Depot, a historic 1908 structure, has been restored to serve as a centerpiece of the park, while the Community House, built in 1890, adds a touch of local history to the park's atmosphere. With the addition of the United Bankshares Amphitheater, Depot Park continues to be a vibrant gathering spot for residents and visitors alike.
Trails
Kennesaw residents are encouraged to hit the walking trails and paths located inside the city. Walking is a gentle, low-impact exercise is one of your body’s most natural forms of exercise. It’s safe and simple, doesn’t require practice, and the health benefits are endless. Constructed between 2007 and 2013, and funded by Recreation Trails Program (RTP) and Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grants, the integrated system of greenway trails runs along several creeks, utility easements and publicly owned property just north of downtown Kennesaw. Trail surfaces vary from concrete sidewalks and crushed stone to mulch and bare earth; and are ideal for walking, running and biking. Benches, bridges, benches, dog waste pick-up stations, trash receptacles, and numbered trail markers can be found along the trail.
